So, on the subject of dress patterns... Sweet Martha B., of the now retired blog Nibs, sent me these images from a Japanese pattern book she bought called "Sweet Dress Recipe" (adorable, right?)!
A few of you asked about the ease of using Japanese pattern books (a concern of mine as well)... Anabela of Field Guided (who recently made a dress out of the book "Stylish Dress Book 2") offered a couple insights: "I find the patterns are pretty easy to follow. The diagrams are detailed, although the measurements are given in centimetres. If you know basic garment construction you'll be fine!"
I am going to make a trip to our local Japanese bookstore in Portland to check out some of the books in person, I will let you know how it goes.... In the meantime, more Japanese pattern books available here.
